Prof. Pradeep M. Jayaweera is currently the Head of the Department of Chemistry, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He graduated from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 1991 with a B.Sc. (Honours) Special degree in Chemistry with Second Class Upper Division. He obtained his PhD from the School of Chemistry, Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom in 1996. He has more than 25 years’ experience in Chemistry and made a significant contribution to Sri Lanka in the field of Chemistry subject teaching to the University students and the related research work.
He was a Visiting Scientist at the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Kandy, Sri Lanka (Solar Cells Development project) in 1997 and Visiting Scholar at the Department of Chemistry, University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2005. He also functioned as a Postdoctoral Scholar at Nano Science and Nano Technology Institute, University of Iowa, USA in 2008/2009. In 1995 he was honoured with the Fellowship of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) by the Department of Electronics and Materials Science, Faculty of Engineering, Shizuoka University, Japan.
During the years of 2008 & 2009 at the Central Microscopy Research Facility at University of Iowa, USA, Prof. Pradeep M. Jayaweera has handled some of the major Instruments namely Kratos X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy System, Scanning Electron Microscopy (Hitachi S-4800 & Hitachi 3400N SEM), Siemens XRD, Asylum Research Atomic Force Microscope, etc. to carry out experiments in scientific research work.
Professor P.M.C. Thilakarathna is currently Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He is the Director of the Centre for Distance & Continuing Education (CDCE), University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka since 2014.
He graduated from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka with a B.Com. (Special). He obtained the Post Graduate Degree of M.Com. (First Class) from the Business School, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. He obtained the Ph.D. in Finance (Grade Excellent) from the Department of Business Administration, University of the Aegean, Greece.
He has more than 31 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting field and made a significant contribution to Sri Lanka for the education of Accountancy subjects and related research work. He functioned as the Head of the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya, from January 2002 to December 2006.
